Our customer is completing a 19th century mill conversion in Harrogate where they will provide a number of luxury homes and apartments. As part of the renovation works our customer wanted all the wood work within the mill cleaning ready to be treated. The cleaning works ranged from Beams, Roof Trusses and Floor Boards.
We were invited to Glass Houses mill, to assess the works. This Grade II listed mill had its original Oak Beams and Roof Trusses covered in many layers of Whitewash from over the years. Our solution to revive these gorgeous timbers back to the original state was to use our Sandblasting system with a fine glass abrasive stripping just enough to take the whitewash off the surface without causing any damage to the woodwork.
The same method, Sandblasting on a low setting was used for the floor boards as these too only needed a slight revive to restore the original colour of the timber making this aesthetically pleasing for the ‘brand new’ homes.
We had 2 men working continually for 5 weeks to complete the Sandblasting works, taking much consideration to conserve the original charm.
Our customer was delighted with the outcome of the cleaning works and the end result of the finish to the timber. This was an extremely important part of the renovation for them as the woodwork is being left exposed and is the big feature in a lot of the houses and apartments.
We have been invited to work for this client again!!
